Do We Consciously Feed Our Mind?

The answer is rarely. We know a lot about how to take care of our physical health, But we know little about how to care for our Minds. We are never taught how to Proactively look after the health of our Mind, how to nourish our mind.

As we saw in our earlier blog post, the Human body is comprised of Three Bodies,

  • Sthula Sharira – Gross Physical Body, which eats, sleeps, breathes, moves
  • Sukshma Sharira – Subtle body of mind, emotions, thoughts, and vital energies
  • Karana Sharira – The Causal body, the seed of Sthula & Sukshma body

What you feed to your body, you become. When you eat junk food, which is momentarily very satisfying to the taste buds, you end up feeding unhealthy food, which then has long-term impacts on your health. Similarly, what you choose to consume in terms of thoughts, beliefs, values, and influences has a significant impact on your mental state. If you consistently feed your mind with limiting beliefs, conflicting values, and unhealthy influences without knowledge and awareness, you may end up feeling unsettled, sad, lost, and anxious. This can lead to a spiral of negativity that may affect your overall life experience. Therefore, it is crucial to raise our awareness and consciously and proactively nourish our minds. The nourishment for our Mind comes from nourishing our Thoughts, Emotions, Values, Beliefs, Principles, Knowledge, and level of awareness. These are the Saatvik Achaar – Vichaar. Nourishment of our Minds also comes from Good Reading, Good Company, and Good Influence.

Here are some tips on how to nourish our minds:

  • Pay attention to Emotions. Amplify desirable emotions and regulate Undesirable Emotions.
  • Pay attention to your Thoughts, and become mindful about your patterns.
  • Amplify your Strengths, minimize negative thoughts
  • Revisit Your Beliefs at every stage of your life. Amplify supporting Beliefs, stay away from limiting beliefs
  • Integrate Mindfulness and Meditation into your daily routine.
  • Practice Digital Detox. Give your Mind some rest from the constant barrage of stimuli.

Nourish Your Mind, and You will Flourish in Your Life.
